This year, I have picked out my favorite things that have become my go-to products for enjoying summer weekends. I wanted to share them with you guys before the season is over so you can hopefully enjoy them too!

Date Night Looks I Love

I always look forward to date night with my husband! Since we are both busy balancing careers and family life, we have to make a specific effort to carve out time to go on dates. Just because we are married does not mean that the dating has to stop! These nights out together are a very important ritual for us, and I love the chance to get all dressed up for our night out.

I always like to pick an outfit that makes me feel feminine, confident and flirty when I go out for a night on the town with my husband. Whether date night is a casual or fancy, I still like to make an occasion out of it and wear something special. I love this Leopard Wrap Dress by Bardot that I am wearing above. As soon as I saw it, I knew that I had to wear it for my next date night. The material is light and perfect for warm summer nights, and the wrap detail provides a gorgeous and feminine silhouette!

Below are some of my other favorite date night looks. A nice dress is an obvious (and good) choice for a summer date — But this time of year, I especially love taking advantage of the season, and wearing a white dress. I also love the look of pairing a brightly colored blouse with simple jeans or pants and a pair of heels for a more casual look. Finally, doing something a little different and pairing a statement skirt with a simple blouse or top makes for a gorgeous date night outfit!

What are your favorite date night looks?

How I Style My Curly Hair

Curly Hair Tamera Mowry

I absolutely love letting my hair go natural and curly because when I do, I truly feel like myself — It’s who God authentically made me to be! I also love that my curly hair is a perfect representation of my personality — fun and playful. I get a ton of questions and comments on social media every time I post a picture of myself with curly hair, and so I thought that I would share with you all my styling tips and tricks.

I typically let my hair go curly when I am at home, and busy with my day-to-day family life. I can wash it and style it in about 30-45 minutes, and then go on with my day. I know that spending 30-45 minutes on styling your hair may sound like a bit much, but it is totally worth the time because the style will hold for a few days. Curly hair naturally requires more moisture, and washing it too often will strip the moisture right out – so that’s why I try and let the style last for as long as possible before shampooing again.

Using quality products also makes a huge difference in my overall hair health. I like Deva Curl. Their line of hair care products are sulfate free, and free from harsh chemicals and phosphates and my hair loves natural products!

My hair ritual starts in the shower. I begin by washing with Deva Curl No-Poo Decadence Shampoo and Conditioner and then I start the styling process while I’m still in the shower (trust me, it’s way easier). Once my hair is clean and conditioned, I section it off into thirds and massage a little bit of Deva Curl Light Defining Gel and DevaCurl Arc Angel Gel into each section. Once I have put in my gel, I finish off with a Deva Curl Supercream Coconut Curl Styler (which is amazing for adding more moisture). If I need to really detangle my hair, I turn to Sacha Inchi Detangling Conditioner by Mielle Organics, it works like a charm.

Once I am out of the shower, I scrunch dry my hair using the DevaCurl DEVATOWEL  Anti-Frizz Microfiber Towel. I don’t go too crazy with the towel though, I only use it a little bit so that I don’t remove all of the product I just put in.

Finally, I either diffuse my hair with the hair dryer until it is dry, or if it’s summer and warm outside, I just let it air dry naturally! I also have a lot of fun playing with different curly hair styles. I love to wear it half up, in a curly bun on top of my head, style a fake Mohawk (like in the picture above), in Dutch braids, or in two buns (I did this at BottleRock and loved the look!). I also frequently turn to my hair board on Pinterest to get new style inspiration and hair care tips.

Let me know what your go-to styling tips and tricks for curly hair are!

I love a light pink or nude lip! The Stila ‘Stay All Day’ Liquid Lipstick is fantastic when I am on-the-go because it literally does stay all day. It’s lightweight enough that my lips don’t dry out, but has enough pigment to it that I don’t have to re-apply all the time.

MAC Lipstick in Ruby Woo

If I am running out the door and want to be a little more glam, then I opt for a bold red lip to feel instantly chic! I love this particular color from MAC Cosmetics, because it the perfect shade of red  — Not too orange and not too crimson!

essie nail color in limo-scene

Just like my lips, I love the look of light pink nails! Light colored nails are my go-to because they work with almost any outfit, or any occasion. Going for a manicure when I have the time is a treat, but when I am on-the-go, I make sure to keep a bottle of essie light pink polish around!

Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes Cucumber And Sage

These Burt’s Bees wipes are a staple in my purse! They cleanse the face and remove makeup without any harsh irritants, and won’t dry out the skin. I also love that I can use them on my kids in a pinch!

14k Gold Bar Necklace

One of my most cherished items is a gold bar necklace with the names of my children engraved on it that jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer gave to me. No matter how dressed up or down I am, this necklace always makes my outfit complete!

Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer

This Bobbi Brown concealer does wonders! When I don’t have time to put full makeup on, I use a tiny little bit of it, and can instantly cover up tired eyes or skin imperfections. Of all the different kinds of concealer I have tried, this one definitely gives me the best results!

Wear It: A Hint of Holiday Sparkle

As you might’ve seen in my behind the scenes holiday post, I love to get in the Christmas spirit. If it’s glittery and festive, I’m either wearing or decorating with it! Lol. But seriously, it’s hard to pull off gold and sparkles in a casual setting like a relaxed get together, so I thought the outfit from my house tour could inspire your next festive look:

Wear It: Holiday Sparkle - Tamera Mowry

Top and blouse: Chan Luu / Jeans: Parker Smith / Shoes: Jimmy Choo

We all know to bring on the sparkle at a NYE party, but what about at brunch with friends or a laidback holiday happy hour? There are a surprising amount of reasons to wear a hint of sparkle this time of year.

Wear It: Holiday Sparkle - Tamera Mowry

Enter the sequin top and jeans combo! With a fun open blouse or kimono, you’re channeling a celebratory look without screaming holiday party, or worse, looking like the Christmas tree itself. These sparkly Chan Luu tops are sold out, but there are a ton of ways to channel this look with other designers.

A fun heel is a perfect match for ankle jeans and ups the chic factor a bit. Make sure they’re already broken in and cozy – save the super high heel for New Years. These are surprisingly comfortable – gotta love a sneaky shoe.

Don’t forget to pair the look with some simple, elegant jewelry like a delicate necklace, layered rings and a gold watch. It’s the little things!

What’s your December wardrobe like?

Wear It: Fall Fashion Staples

It’s officially October, and now that we’re out of that crazy heat wave, we can finally prepare for fall. As tempting as investing in a whole new wardrobe this time of year can be, there’s actually so many ways you can mix and match outfits for fall—as long as you have a few staples. Be sure to pin my chart below so you have it handy when shopping this season…

Fall Fashion Staples - Tamera Mowry fall must haves

Shirt dress. Tunics and dresses are great for fall layering and a shirt dress is the best of bold worlds. If the right length, you can wear it as a dress with booties or knee-highs on warm early fall days (a must in California) and pair with the leggings or dark jeans above when the temps drop.

Basic sweater. It’s not autumn without a cozy fall sweaters. If it’s chilly where you live, you probably have a variety to choose from, but it’s nice to have a super simple sweater that goes with anything. Sweaters like the above can be worn year-round too, so they’re always a good investment.

Vest. Winter may call for heavy coats but fall is notorious for unpredictability. A nice vest will keep you from going too overboard on chilly mornings and once again – perfect for layering.

Rain coat. Fall weather may not have completely hit yet but it’s always good to be prepared (especially when running around with little ones at your side). Get a rain coat that’s actually comfortable and appropriate for an average day in your city (not too thick or thin etc.).

Poncho or shawl. I love ponchos because they’re the chicest way to wear your comfiest, most casual clothes out on the town! If it doesn’t feel dressy enough for your event, pair yours with heeled boots and chunky jewelry.

Button up. A simple button up shirt or blouse is a must for proper layering. You’ll be able to sport it under a vest, poncho, jacket, or even just tuck it into a cute fall skirt when it’s not too cold. Go for a neutral so it doesn’t compete with your statement pieces and you’re good to go!

Tote bag. I know we’ve covered the best fall bags in my other post, but a versatile tote (in a romantic color like marsala preferably!) isn’t just practical, which I’m all about, it gives any outfit a bit of elegance.

Circle scarves. All you fall fashionistas know you’ve gotta have that circle scarf for easy layering.

Dark denim. Dark denim and skinny jeans are another staple. Fall and winter are when you pay more attention to footwear so get a pair that goes with your fave boots.

Leggings. Anyone else out there put comfort first? With the appropriate top and shoes (the vest and shirt dress above will do the trick), you can get away with leggings this time of year. Just make sure they’re thick and durable – trust me, it’s worth the extra few dollars.

Booties. Need I say more? This might be your best investment for fall, and if you’re walking around in the elements frequently, investing in a pair of booties that will last all season (or hopefully much longer) should be high on the priority list.

Once you have these staples, you only need a couple other pieces – a felt hat, a little bling, and another sweater or two comes to mind – to round out your closet all season long.
